Vodafone apology for mobile fault

9:08 am on 8 March 2010

Vodafone is apologising to customers who experienced a drop in the quality of mobile phone service in parts of the North Island on Saturday.

While there was no outage in the Bay of Plenty and Waikato regions, some people had to try twice to send a text or make a call.

Vodafone says the problem stemmed from work carried out by FX Networks, a company it uses to provide fibre-optic cable throughout the country.

The company says it will offer compensation on a case-by-case basis.
