Quake-damaged Gisborne church reopens

8:56 pm on 16 March 2010

A Gisborne church badly damaged in the 2007 earthquake is back in business.

St Andrews Presbyterian Church was re-dedicated and reopened on Monday night.

Hundreds of parishioners and others packed the nearly 100 year old church for the two-hour service, which included performances by a children's culture group, choir, and civic orchestra.

Repairs, and strengthening work, cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.
