Canada experience to help Maori TV rugby coverage

Maori Television will tap into the experience of Canadian indigenous broadcasters to cover next year's Rugby World Cup.

Maori Television presenter Julian Wilcox says Canada's Aboriginal People's Televison Network outlined its experience covering the Vancouver Winter Olympics in 10 languages at a conference in Taiwan.

He says the broadcasting network was new to reporting on sporting events in indigenous languages, and had to come up with a language themselves.

Maori Television is sending programmer Haunui Royal to Canada to learn what he can from the Aboriginal People's Televison experience.
