The police are investigating an arson at a student flat in Dunedin.
They say an armchair was set alight against the front porch of a house, which also caught fire at about 11.15pm on Saturday.
The occupants of the house were out but a passer-by called the Fire Service.
The police say the house wasn't badly damaged but the fire could have spread to the next-door flat, putting lives at risk.
