A missing Te Aroha man has made contact with the police.
Hentie Van Zyl, 21, was last seen by his flatmate on Monday and his burnt out vehicle was found later in the evening near Mt Te Aroha.
A search was held near the mountain on Thursday.
As a result of media coverage, Mr Van Zyl called police on Thursday night.
Police say it's the outcome the family wanted and it's saved an extensive search.
