A test flight has been held of a new air ambulance for the Royal New Zealand Air Force.
A Boeing 757 has been modified to provide an on-board hospital.
The RNZAF says it will be able to transport patients from disaster situations like last year's tsunami in Samoa.
Squadron Leader Kavae Tamariki says the converted plane has been four years in the planning.
It was test flown last week, but is still 12 - 18 months from being fully operational.
The cost of the conversion was $1.3 million.
