Police search home of missing Auckland woman

6:04 am on 19 July 2010

Police in Auckland are examining the Remuera house of a woman who has been missing for more than two weeks.

They say Carmen Thomas, 32, who worked as an escort, has not made contact with her five-year-old son during this time.

Police say a search of places Ms Thomas frequents in central Auckland is being made and officers are seeking all available surveillance footage she may appear on.

They say anyone who contacts the police with information about Carmen Thomas or sightings of her Nissan Pulsar car can be assured of confidentiality.

Her car has been found on Dyer Street, in the Hamilton suburb of Whitiora, and police want to know how it got there.

Ms Thomas is described as about 170cm tall, of medium to heavy build with long brown hair and usually wears two sets of earrings in each ear.

Acting Detective Inspector Mark Benefield says there is nothing at this stage to suggest that Ms Thomas's disappearance is linked to her job as an escort.
