Two Christchurch teenagers face a raft of charges after a crime spree across the upper South Island on Tuesday afternoon ended with an arrest at taser and gunpoint.
Police allege the pair headed north from Christchurch in a stolen car, which they dumped in Kaikoura before fleeing across farmland, pursued by police with dogs.
They then stole vehicles in Seddon and Blenheim, police say, before heading to Havelock in yet another stolen car. They have also been linked to a burglary in Havelock in which firearms were taken.
Officers with guns and tasers arrested them after their car was forced to a stop by road spikes at the bottom of the Whangamoa Hill, on the Nelson side.
Senior Sergeant Koefoed of Nelson police says stolen property in the car included a loaded air rifle.
He says two males, aged 15 and 17, are in custody and will appear in the Nelson Youth Court on Wednesday.
