Limited industrial action in hospital pay dispute

6:46 am on 22 July 2010

Radiographers and laboratory workers in public hospitals have resumed limited industrial action over a lack of progress in pay talks with district health boards.

Laboratory personnel in Auckland, Northland, Wellington, Canterbury and at the New Zealand Blood Service are refusing to process some samples and do office work. They also refuse to work overtime.

Both unions are also threatening legal action over a deal in April between the boards and other unions setting a level of pay rises for all in the sector.

That deal was for an increase of 2% over 18 months from next year.
