Several more key Maori dignitaries will on Thursday present submissions at the urgent Waitangi Tribunal hearings over Te Kohanga Reo movement's call for a law change to give it self management.

Key speakers on Thursday morning include, Titoki Black, Harata Gibson, and Vaine Daniels.

The Ministry of Education runs the pre-schools which were established in 1982.

Kohanga says they are not early childhood centres, yet are being forced to adopt a mainstream model in line with these centres.

One of the pioneering figures of kohanga from Wainuiomata, Henrietta Maxwell, says kohanga should be autonomous, with privileges of their own, instead of being dictated to.
