The Independent Constitutional Transformation Working Group has set up a subsidiary group for rangatahi, because it believes the people of the future will lead constitutional change.
The working group will meet with tangata whenua from the seven electorates from April.
It is looking at how a constitution might be based on Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Working group chairperson Margaret Mutu says its job is to empower the people, which includes rangatahi.
Professor Mutu says the rangatahi group, like its parent body, will go to the people - in this case they will go to places such as kura.
