A Tainui iwi treaty claim trust chairperson says Crown facilitator Tukoroirangi Morgan has helped his tribe make rapid progress in the treaty claims process.
Mr Morgan was appointed by the Crown in March to help iwi using his knowledge gained through work on the Waikato River settlement.
Tainui iwi Ngati Haua is among tribes working with Mr Morgan.
Ngati Haua Treaty claim trust chairperson Lance Kerekori Rapana says his iwi asked Mr Morgan for help, as it was struggling with mandate matters and having to deal with different Crown representatives.
Ngati Haua has overcome those matters since Mr Morgan become involved, Mr Rapana says.
It now has an opportunity to set up an entity to can access Crown Forestry Rental money in order to fund its claim research.
