Maori comedienne takes to stage

Updated at 7:14 pm on 15 May 2012

Anti-violence campaigner Parekotuku Moore is taking to the stage Tuesday night as the only Maori woman at the Wellington International Comedy Festival.

Ms Moore works with the National Network of Stopping Violence, Te Kupenga, and is a staunch advocate for family violence agencies.

But on Tuesday the self-confessed diva will cover the topics of race relations, Maori politics and gastric bypass surgery in her show, 'Who Dat Sheila'.

Ms Moore has been performing in New Zealand and overseas since 1996.
