The chairperson of the Te Arawa Lakes Trust says a recent trip to Hawaii with the Maori King was the experience of a lifetime.

Last week, Toby Curtis travelled to the Pacific island as part of a delegation led by King Tuheitia, to further build on the existing relationship between Maori and their Hawaiian kin.

The trip included visits to educational institutions, health centres, community projects and church and state offices.

Toby Curtis says while he was in Hawaii, he saw opportunities for Aotearoa.

He says in two to three years time, the Hawaii and Maori relationship will be cemented.
