Iwi member seeks wider financial investigation

A member of the Taranaki Whanui iwi says a financial investigation into Wellington Tenths Trust should also cover another Maori organisation.

Jason Fox has asked the Serious Fraud Office to also examine Port Nicholson Block Settlement Trust - which administers the treaty settlement package for Taranaki Whanui.

He says he's put the request to the SFO over of transactions relating to the trust's Shelley Bay property.

Mr Fox has invited other members of Taranaki Whanui to also write to the Serious Fraud Office.

He says the right organisation needs to come in with the right powers to look beyond the accounts and audit.

Sir Ngatata Love has taken leave of absence from his leadership roles at the two trusts.

The stand-in chair of Port Nicholson Block Settlement Trust is Mahara Okeroa.
