A United States-based brand consultant says Maori could take part in business ventures in a better way than native Americans have.

Hampton Bridwell, from the US-based company Brand Logic, is speaking at a two-day 'Business is Business' conference in Rotorua, hosted by Te Arawa Federation of Maori Authorities Incorporated and the Maori Research Institute.

Mr Bridwell says native Americans have a big focus on gambling assets, but that has not necessarily proven to be sustainable.
