Hairini Marae in Western Bay of Plenty gave a Maori welcome for the mayor of Tauranga's Japanese sister-city on Thursday.
Akira Yoshinari from Hitachi is visiting Tauranga this week to boost activities and initiatives between the two cities.
The visit has included a meeting with Tauranga mayor Stuart Crosby as well as a business forum.
