Auckland Council's independent Maori statutory board says it welcomes the appointment of two senior Maori business leaders to two council-owned companies.
A former chief executve of the Ngati Whatua o Orakei Maori Trust Board, Tiwana Tibble, has been appointed to the Auckland Council Property board.
The chief financial officer for Ngati Whatua o Orakei corporate office, Diana Puketapu, will sit on the board of Auckland Council Investments.
Tiwana Tibble is a chartered accountant, has held senior commercial and iwi business roles and is a director of Radio New Zealand.
Diana Puketapu previously worked for BMW Oracle Racing.
Independent Maori statutory board chair David Taipari says the appointments demonstrate progress towards increasing Maori leadership and participation in local government process and organisations.
