It's a busy morning at Hoani Waititi Marae in west Auckland.
There's an acknowledgement ceremony for Dame June Mariu - the former Silver Ferns skipper and past president of the Maori Women's Welfare League.
She's being recognised for becoming a Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit.
A delegation from Te Whanau a Apanui is also visiting to further strengthen relations - as Hoani Waititi himself was of Te Whanau a Apanui lineage.
A 30-foot carved pou whenua will also be unveiled, marking the turangawaewae and recognising Hoani Waititi Marae and its formal establishment of Te Whare Wananga of Hoani Waititi Marae.
