No decision's been reached over where to move a small carved whare based at a Bay of Plenty school in Murupara, which is now closed.
Rangitahi College has closed and will merge with another local primary school to become an area school called Te Awatea o Murupara.
But hapu of the local tribe, Ngati Manawa, hasn't made a decision about where the small ancestral house replica, Tuwhare, should go.
Rangatahi College former principal Dawn Mitai-Pehi says time's running out
to move the whare.
She says even though the board is still in charge of the college until 27 January, there are no staff at the school to oversee the move of Tuwhare.
Ms Mitai-Pehi says the board plans to make a decision on where to move Tuwhare if hapu do not decide by the middle of next week.
