Ngai Tahu Holdings Group appoints new chief executive

7:52 pm on 12 December 2012

The commercial arm of Ngai Tahu has appointed its new leader.

Mike Sang has agreed to take up the role as the chief executive of Ngai Tahu Group Holdings.

He already has an association with the South Island tribe and recently completed an 18 month contract with Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu as its CEO.

Ngai Tahu Group Holdings chairman Trevor Burt says it is a terrific outcome as Mr Sang has all the knowledge of how the tribe operates, plus extensive experience as one of New Zealand's top chief financial officers.

He says Mr Sang has an impressive managerial career, most recently steering Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu through a period of post-earthquake change and strategic review.

Before being the runanga CEO, Mr Sang was chief financial officer at PGG Wrightson Limited, a listed company within the NZX50, during a time of significant change through mergers, acquisitions and the global financial crisis.

Mike Sang will take up his position in the New Year.
