An application to the Environment Court filed by Maori regarding a proposal to build a rubbish transfer station in a Rotorua suburb has been withdrawn.
It was lodged last year by John Tapiata, a resident in Ngapuna, where the station's due to be built.
Some locals there worried that the station would be built within a circle of four marae, with one comparing it to having a rubbish bin put in their lounge.
Mr Tapiata says the application to the Environment Court was withdrawn because of a combination of reasons, including the time and cost of an appeal.
