Some Maori residents in Rotorua have secured a small win - after withdrawing an application to the Environmental Court in a bid to oppose a rubbish transfer station being built in their neighbourhood.
The application was filed by John Tapiata, a resident in Ngapuna, the suburb where the station is proposed to be built by Transpacific Industries Group.
Mr Tapiata says the appeal was pulled back because of a number of reasons including time and cost.
He says the application was removed as a gesture of goodwill and Transpacific has now agreed to empty the bins of four marae in Ngapuna.
