An Auckland tribal treaty negotiator is ready to face her people when they decide if she should keep her role or not.
A hui-a-iwi or tribal meeting has been called for 6 April at Umupuia Marae in Auckland by Ngai Tai ki Tamaki Tribal Trust to discuss the future of Emily Karaka as treaty negotiator.
On 27 March, the High Court ordered that all of the Tribal Trust's trustees should stand down and a new election be held.
Despite that, the Trust has decided to put Ms Karaka's role to a vote at the hui, which the trust's webpage says will be facilitated by an independent chair appointed by the Ministry of Maori Development, Te Puni Kokiri.
Ms Karaka says, with her hand on her heart, she's ready to answer any questions about her involvement in the trust in 20 years representing the iwi.
She says she's aware that some people may not like the answers she provides to questions.
