Maori statistics survey starts

8:02 am on 13 June 2013

Five thousand Maori are being targeted by a Government department which is gathering information about health, language and culture.

Statistics New Zealand says its survey, Te Kupenga, will be useful to help Maori communities and state agencies produce policies and programmes.

Key findings from the survey will be released next year.

The 5000 people have been randomly selected from completed census forms, and have been invited to take part.
