Green candidate sees diversity in Ikaroa-Rawhiti electorate

The Green Party candidate for the Ikaroa-Rawhiti race says the opinions and realities for those in the electorate are diverse.

Marama Davidson says she's been travelling hundreds of km per day as part of her campaign for the by-election at end of the month.

The former human rights advisor said it's been a logistical nightmare getting everywhere, but that she's having a ball.

She said the diversity of lifestyles and political issues in the electorate is quite overwhelming.

Ms Davidson said working out how that diversity fits in with what she stands for, and what her party can support, has been a big challenge.

However she said it's an amazing and exciting opportunity, and it's important that voters have another option with the Greens.

Marama Davidson is one of seven candidates vying for the seat, which became vacant after the death of Labour MP, Parekura Horomia, in April.

The Green Party last stood for the seat in 2008.
