The Anglican Church in Western Australia has given Maori parishioners its blessing for them to conduct church services in Te Reo Maori.
Services in Mandurah and Bunbury, near Perth, have started worshipping and celebrating the sacraments in the Maori language.
It follows the first ever Maori language service - attended by Ratana Church members in Rockingham in May this year.
A Ngati Porou Anglican Minister, Kaua Te Rangi Tuhura - or the Reverend Kuzie as he's known to most people - says their prayers have finally been answered after asking church leaders if Maori members could say the mass in their own language.
He says Maori have been lobbying for some time, and the Archbishop of Western Australia has finally agreed to it.
The Reverend Kuzie says he will also be using English in some parts of the services, especially in some of the hymns which will be bilingual so that everyone can feel included.
He is also inviting people to send him the words and music of their favourite hymns.
