Update for healing standards

6:29 am on 13 August 2013

The Ministry of Health is to update the traditional Maori healing practice standards by the end of the year.

Public consultation has started for new Rongoa Tikanga standards, which will update the nearly 15-year-old standards currently used.

They include guidelines on how a Maori practitioner should assesses a patient, and the way rongoa Maori, or traditional herbal medicines, are collected.

Public feedback on the new standards closes on 23 August.
