Earthquake damage sends Te Matatini staff home

Te Matatini staff in Wellington will be working from home for the remainder of the year after an earthquake damaged their building.

Director Darrin Apanui said the offices in the city centre have been considered high risk, after a magnitude 6.6 earthquake in the region last month.

He said the organisation wasn't forced out, but the safety level of the building has reached the point where it's best for staff to leave.

Mr Apanui said staff are virtually connected and will work from home until the end of the year, when it will have found a new building.

He said the change will cause no issues to its operation.
