Changes to Labour's Maori MPs' select committee duties

6:40 am on 27 September 2013

The Labour Party has shaken up its representation on the Maori Affairs Select Committee.

Shane Jones has come off to join the Finance and Expenditure Committee.

Nanaia Mahuta becomes the senior party member on the Maori Committee and is joined by new MP Meka Whaitiri and existing member Rino Tirikatane.

The changes follow the election of Labour's new leader David Cunliffe and Shane Jones' appointment to the role of spokesperson for economic development, while retaining his maori affairs portfolio.
