The popular childrens' television shows, Dora the Explorer and Spongebob Squarepants, will soon air in te reo Maori.
They will be broadcast on Maori Television next year, with the broadcaster securing the rights to translate them into the Maori language.
The station says connecting to tamariki is vital to revitalise te reo, and the popularity of the programmes will lift the status of the language.
