Harawira attending Mandela tangi

7:41 pm on 10 December 2013

Mana Party leader Hone Harawira is travelling to South Africa to attend Nelson Mandela's tangi.

Mr Harawira says he will pay his respects on behalf of the anti-Springbok tour movement of 1981 and all those who have marched against apartheid.

Mr Harawira was not included in the official delegation sent to South Africa to represent New Zealand, headed by Prime Minister John Key.

He says Mr Key is taking two people who aren't even Members of Parliament - former prime minister Jim Bolger and former Foreign Affairs Minister Sir Don McKinnon - which Mr Harawira describes as an insult given there are serving MPs who stood strong against apartheid.
