Whanau Ora agency decision delayed

6:30 am on 20 December 2013

The Government has put off making a decision on who will be put in charge of Whanau Ora contracts.

Three agencies are being set up to give money to organisations to deliver kaupapa Maori welfare services, as well as monitoring and checking how well the dollar is spent.

Whanau Ora Minister Tariana Turia says a decision on the commissioning agencies will be announced in the new year.

They were supposed to be selected this month.

Te Puni Kokiri will remain the administering department for Whanau Ora.
