Society stands by decision to take Hall case

6:54 am on 31 January 2014

The Law Society says it took action against Treaty solicitor Donna Hall because it was the right thing to do.

The society has lost its claim against Ms Hall, after the Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal dismissed the case.

The Tribunal heard she represented more than one party in the sale of land near Taupo several years ago.

The accusation centred on whether she failed to inform the seller and purchaser of potential conflicts of interest, or to tell them they should take independent legal advice.

But the charge of negligence or incompetence has been dismissed.

Donna Hall had always argued there was no case to answer.

The Law Society say it fully respects the decision by the lawyers disciplinary body, saying the decision as to whether there has been any irregularity is, of course, up to the Tribunal.

Donna Hall has not returned messages requesting comment.
