A Maori history professor believes there has been less talk about holding protests during the royal visit to New Zealand, which he attributes to growing political self-confidence amongst tangata whenua.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived in Wellington with their nine-month-old son Prince George on Monday for a nine-day tour.
In the past, Maori activists have used royal visits to air grievances with the Crown.
But Professor Paul Moon, from Auckland University of Technology, says there certainly has not been that type of talk as in previous years.
Professor Moon said iwi are in settlement mode, rather than protest mode, and Maori are more concerned about their own future than their relationship with the royal family.
