Television New Zealand has announced a new general manager for Maori and Pacific Programmes, Raewyn Rasch.

She was appointed as acting general manager in February after her predecessor, Shane Taurima, resigned when it was revealed some staff had used TVNZ offices and resources to host Labour Party meetings.

Ms Rasch is of Maori, German-Samoan and Irish descent, and grew up in South Westland.

Her hapu is Ngati (Kati) Mahaki ki Makaawhio, a hapu of Ngai Tahu.

She has worked in a wide range of media, including at Radio New Zealand, and was previously Programme Producer for 'Marae Investigates' as well as Executive Producer of Fair Go and Seven Sharp.

Ms Rasch says it is an honour to be able to represent both her Maori and Samoan heritage and to work with people who are passionate about Te Reo and Pacific culture.
