Six Māori clay artists are back home from the United States after 10 days of workshops with the indigenous Chinook people.
The Chinook people originate from the Washington and Oregon rohe.

One of the artists, Dorothy Waetford, said the Māori artists were based in Astoria at the mouth of the Columbia River.
She said the most memorable part of the trip was sharing stories with the Chinookans, but that the trip was about more than just art.
"They were powerful experiences of sharing in significant places to them (Chinookans). But more than that, was having those experiences acknowledged by the wider community."
Ms Waetford said the trip was funded by Creative New Zealand and she hoped it would become a yearly event.
