Maori Party young voters wananga

7:43 pm on 15 July 2011

The Māori Party is turning its attention to young voters on 16 to 17 July with a nation-wide wānanga

The party has invited rangatahi from ngā hau e whā - Pukenui in the Far North to Christchurch in the south, to a forum in Rotorua.

The party leaders, Tāriana Turia and Pita Sharples, say the aim is to get the rangatahi to develop policies on the issues facing their generation.

One of the guest speakers is Cherie Kuararangi-Sweeney of Ngāruawāhia, the young woman who led a recent campaign urging people to speak out against child abuse.
