Mark Solomon has been re-elected kaiwhakahaere or chairperson of Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu.
Mr Solomon, who represents the Kaikoura runanga, has held the position for more than 10 years.
He says he's humbled to be elected uncontested for another three-year term.
Mr Solomon says it's a unique privilege to be the kaiwhakahaere of Ngai Tahu, and he's dedicated to ensuring the best outcomes for individual whanau members and the iwi as a whole.
Meanwhile, Lisa Tumahai - also of Ngai Tahu descent - becomes the first woman in her iwi to be elected as the deputy kaiwhakahaere.
Ms Tumahai is the representative of the Ngati Waewae runanga on the West Coast.
Ngai Tahu membership has gone up: more than 47,500 are now enrolled.
