The executive director of operations at Te Wananga o Aotearoa, which has several North Island campuses, has been elected chair of Taranaki's largest corporate dairy farming business.

Hinerangi Raumati who was appointed to the board of Parininihi ki Waitotara in 2006, is the first woman to chair the board.

She's a chartered accountant with a significant amount of experience in financial management, investment and governance.

Mrs Raumati is a director of the Maori Fisheries Trust Te Ohu Kaimoana, and on the board of the Public Trust.

She says she's extremely proud of what Parininihi ki Waitotara has achieved in the dairy sector, and is looking forward to building on its positive foundation.

David McLeod, who also sits on the Parininihi board this week, became the first Maori to be appointed to the board of the dairy co-operative Fonterra.
