Claim Mana Party singled out in trespass notice

6:35 am on 7 December 2011

The Mana Party says it's being singled out by Auckland Council, which has issued a trespass notice to the Occupy Auckland protesters - who are against corporate greed.

The notice covers those who are a part of, or associated with, Mana.

But Mana Party president Annette Sykes says members of other mainstream political parties have protested in Aotea Square - but they haven't been targeted by the council.

She says Mana isn't the only movement involved in the protest, there are representatives from the Greens and other mainstream parties there.

Ms Sykes says the fact Mana has been singled out has to be a question that is positively raised in the court case, because freedom of association is a fundamental right.

Another court hearing is due on Thursday, on whether or not the Occupy Auckland protesters can be removed permanently.
