Te Runanga a Iwi o Ngapuhi says the interim chief executive George Riley has been officially appointed to the position.
Mr Riley has been the Interim chief executive for nearly a year.
Runanga chair Sonny Tau says Mr Riley has outstanding qualities, bringing to the job excellent people and management skills.
He also has a strong understanding of the Trust board and a vision for its future, he says.
Mr Tau says the chief executive position attracted highly qualified candidates from throughout the country as well as interest from Ngapuhi descendants living overseas.
He says the board is confidence Mr Riley will prove to be an outstanding chief executive.
