The chairman of two King Country land trusts says he wants to establish a relationship with Shanghai Pengxin, after the High Court ordered the Government to reconsider the Chinese bid to buy the Crafar Farms.
Tiroa E and Te Hape B Trusts were part of the Crafar farms Purchase Group who sought a judicial review to prevent the farms being sold, and have its own bid accepted.
Hardie Peni says the High Court ruling was received very well among the trustees because it supports all of their arguments to keep the farms in New Zealand hands.
He says he would like to talk with the Chinese on strategies that work for everyone.
Mr Peni says his first thoughts would be to sit down with the Chinese group formally, and see where they can mend bridges and create win-win situations.
