Everyone now accounted after New Lynn fire

The Fire Service has confirmed everyone thought to be inside a burning house in New Lynn in Auckland has been accounted for.

Firefighters have brought in a specialist lighting unit to help in their search for a person unaccounted for in a house fire in New Lynn in West Auckland.

Six fire engines were called to the blaze which began just after 6pm on Arawa Street.

A specialist lighting unit had to be used to check the house for a person reportedly missing.

Alfred Cruz, who's next-door neighbour, was one of several homes that had to be evacuated.

He said a couple and two teenagers lived in the house.

A fire service spokesperson said homes either side of the burning house had sustained some damage.
