A bill aimed at getting earthquake-affected communities back up and running has passed its final reading in Parliament.

It is one of three pieces of emergency legislation introduced to the house under urgency this week.

The Civil Defence Emergency Management Amendment Bill brings forward the start date of recently passed civil defence legislation that can require building owners to undertake earthquake assessments of their properties.

Another bill regarding consent to emergency works under the Resource Management Act is currently making its way through Parliament.
