Rugby World Cup final tickets up for grabs

10:06 am on 23 September 2011

Hundreds of tickets to the Rugby World Cup final have been returned by corporates, sponsors, teams and hospitality programmes and are being sold to anyone who entered the ballot for finals tickets.

Organisers say the 2000 tickets are surplus to requirements and will be sold from 9am on Friday.

The sell-off is the last chance to get tickets for the previously sold-out final at Eden Park on 23 October.

A ticket in the prime category A spot costs $1278 while the cheapest, in category C, is priced at $767 - though some of those are in the sight-restricted Southern stand, obstructed by the adjacent West stand.

The Rugby Travel and Hospitality group returned 500 tickets because capacity for its hospitality packages has been reached in some venues.

In its contract with the Rugby World Cup organisers, it could not sell on the tickets without the hospitality component.
