The MetService long range forecast for all New Zealand to midnight Monday.
A humid easterly flow persists over much of the country for the next few dayswhile a dissipating low moves westwards over Northland today. An active trough of low pressure from the Tasman Sea moves onto the country on Monday, preceded by strengthening northwesterlies.
Northland, Auckland and Coromandel Peninsula
Cloudy periods today, with a few showers about the eastern coasts. Cloud increasing tomorrow, with patchy drizzle mainly during the morning and evening.Scattered rain developing on Monday.
Waikato, Waitomo, Waitomo, Bay Of Plenty, Rotorua, Taupo, Taumarunui, TaihapeTaranaki, Wanganui, Manawatu
Mainly fine today and tomorrow, but isolated afternoon and evening showers for inland areas, some heavy with possible thunderstorms today. Scattered light rain or drizzle for Saturday and Sunday, with periods of rain on Monday, and some possibly heavy falls in Taranaki.
Horowhenua Kapiti Coast and Wellington
Fine and hot today and tomorrow. Low cloud possibly spreading into the south coast tonight. High cloud increasing on Saturday, with occasional rain on Sunday and Monday.
Gisborne, Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa (including the Tararua District)
Fine spells increasing this afternoon and showers becoming isolated. Becoming cloudy again tomorrow evening, and patchy drizzle developing. Drizzle clearing in Gisborne and Hawkes Bay on Sunday, but rain at times for the Wairarapa through to Monday.
Inland MARLBOROUGH, NELSON, BULLER, and northern WESTLAND
Mainly fine today and tomorrow, but isolated afternoon showers for inland areas. Rain developing on Saturday, with some heavy falls on Sunday.
The remainder of WESTLAND, the Southern Alps and Lakes, and FIORDLAND
Mainly fine with isolated showers today. Showers becoming more widespread tomorrow, some heavy and possibly thundery with hail. Showers turning to rain on Saturday, with some heavy falls on Sunday. Rain gradually easing on Monday.
The remainder of MARLBOROUGH and CANTERBURY
Fine spells increasing this afternoon, but cloud and patchy drizzle returning this evening. Drizzle clearing on Saturday and becoming mainly fine through to Monday.
The remainder of OTAGO and SOUTHLAND
Often cloudy, with patchy drizzle at times for coastal areas through to Sunday.Isolated showers developing inland this afternoon, and becoming more widespread tomorrow and again on Sunday. Periods of rain developing on Monday.
Occasional rain or drizzle for the whole period.
