The MetService long range forecast for all New Zealand to midnight Tuesday.
A ridge persists over much of the country through Tuesday. A weak low develops just offshore Kaikoura this evening, then dissipates on Sunday. A trough moves onto the upper North Island from the east on Tuesday.
Northland, Auckland, Coromandel Peninsula, Bay Of Plenty, Rotorua, Waikato and Waitomo
Mainly fine throughout the period, apart from areas of morning and night cloud.Also isolated afternoon and evening showers, mainly inland.
Taupo, Taumarunui, Taihape, Taranaki, whanganui, Horowhenua Kapiti Coast and Manawatu
Throughout the period, cloudy periods and afternoon sunny breaks. Isolated showers, mainly inland during the afternoons and evenings, some heavy and possibly thundery with small hail about the Central Plateau from tomorrow and through to Monday.
Wellington and Wairarapa (including the Tararua District)
Fine today. Becoming cloudy, with patchy drizzle in the south tomorrow and through Sunday. Mainly fine on Monday and Tuesday, but isolated afternoon and evening showers persist about the Tararua District from Sunday through to Tuesday.
Gisborne and Hawkes Bay
Mainly fine throughout the period, apart from areas of morning and night cloud.Also isolated showers, mostly about the ranges during the afternoons and evenings.
Nelson, Buller and Westland
Mostly fine throughout the period, apart from isolated afternoon and evening showers about the ranges, some possibly heavy tomorrow.
Mostly fine throughout the period, apart from cloud and patchy drizzle about the Kaikoura Coast until Sunday afternoon. Also isolated afternoon and evening showers about the ranges, some possibly heavy tomorrow.
Canterbury, Otago, Southland and clutha
Areas of cloud morning and night, with patchy drizzle until Sunday. Also throughout the period, isolated showers inland during the afternoons and evenings, some possibly heavy about Canterbury foothills today and in Otago tomorrow.
Mainly fine throughout the period, apart from areas of morning and night cloudand isolated showers about the southern fiords until tomorrow morning. Also afternoon and evening showers about the Lakes during the weekend.
Mostly cloudy throughout the period, with occasional drizzle today and tomorrow, and a few light showers from Sunday through Tuesday. Light windsthen easterlies developing on Sunday and turning northerly on Monday.
