The MetService long range forecast for all New Zealand to midnight Monday.
A subtropical low moves south across New Zealand today, followed by a northerly flow. A trough over the Tasman Sea should then move onto the country Friday night and Saturday, followed by a ridge of high pressure Sunday night and Monday.
Northland, Auckland and the Coromandel Peninsula.
Cloudy periods today and tomorrow, with remaining drizzle clearing this afternoon. Rain developing from Saturday afternoon, with some heavy falls later, then easing to showers Sunday afternoon. Mainly fine on Monday.
Bay Of Plenty, Rotorua and Taupo
Cloudy periods today through Saturday, with patchy drizzle clearing this evening. Rain developing later on Saturday, with some heavy falls later, then easing to showers Sunday afternoon. Mainly fine on Monday.
Waikato, Waitomo, Taumarunui, Taihape, Taranaki, Wanganui, ManawatuHorowhenua Kapiti Coast
Periods of rain or drizzle today. Mostly cloudy tomorrow, but fine spells developing in the east. Rain developing Saturday evening, with some heavy falls, then easing to showers Sunday afternoon. Mainly fine on Monday, apart from a few showers in the west.
Occasional rain clearing this evening. Morning showers tomorrow, then fine spells through Saturday. Rain developing early Sunday, clearing Sunday afternoon. Showers for a time on Monday with southerlies dying out.
Gisborne, Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa including the Tararua District
Scattered rain about Wairarapa clearing this evening, otherwise mainly fine through to Saturday. Rain developing early Sunday, easing later on Sunday.Fine spells and a few showers on Monday.
Buller, Nelson and Marlborough
Showers, some heavy with possible thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.Scattered showers developing tomorrow afternoon. Scattered rain spreading east Saturday morning, some heavy falls in the west, easing to a few showers on Sunday. Fine spells and a few showers on Monday.
Showers, some heavy with isolated thunderstorms inland this afternoon and evening. Cloudy periods tomorrow, with afternoon showers inland. Rain developing about the High Country on Saturday, but mainly fine further east.Showers on Sunday with a southerly change, showers then becoming confined to the foothills on Monday and becoming mainly fine elsewhere.
Westland and Fiordland
Showers, some heavy with isolated thunderstorms about the ranges this afternoon and evening. Rain developing tomorrow with heavy falls from evening.Rain with heavy falls on Saturday, then showers on Sunday and Monday.
Southland and Otago
Scattered showers today, some heavy with isolated thunderstorms about Central Otago this afternoon and evening. Rain at times from tomorrow afternoon through to Saturday. Showers and southerlies developing Sunday morning, then mainly fine on Monday.
Cloudy, and rain developing this afternoon. A few showers on Saturday and Sunday. Rain developing overnight Sunday, then easing to showers on Monday.
