The MetService long range forecast for all New Zealand to midnight Sunday.
A slow moving ridge covers the country. A weak trough passes the lower South Island on Thursday, before a deeper trough crosses the South Island on Saturday, followed by another ridge on Sunday.
Northland and Auckland
Mainly fine through to Saturday, with isolated showers in Northland on Friday.A few showers developing on Sunday.
Coromandel Peninsula, Bay Of Plenty, Rotorua and Taupo
Cloudy periods today, with isolated showers developing towards evening, then clearing tomorrow afternoon. Mainly fine on Friday, then cloud increasing on Saturday, with a few late showers in Taupo. A few showers everywhere on Sunday.
Waikato, Waitomo, Taumarunui, Taranaki, Wanganui, Taihape, Manawatu and Horowhenua Kapiti Coast
Fine today. Cloudy periods tomorrow and on Friday, with isolated showers in Taranaki and Horowhenua Kapiti Coast tomorrow morning. Cloud increasing on Saturday and a few showers developing in the evening. Showers clearing early on Sunday and becoming mainly fine.
Gisborne, Hawkes Bay, Wairarapa (including the Tararua District) and Wellington
Mainly fine through to Saturday. Cloudy periods increasing on Sunday, with isolated showers in Hawkes Bay and Gisborne.
Western Ranges of NELSON, BULLER and northern WESTLAND
Cloud increasing this evening. Patchy drizzle developing tomorrow morningthen clearing early Friday leaving cloudy periods. Rain spreading north on Saturdaywith some heavy falls possible, then easing to showers as winds turn southwesterly. Cloudy periods and isolated showers on Sunday.
Southern Westland and Fiordland
Mostly cloudy, with isolated showers. Rain or showers for the remainder of the period, with heavy falls possible in southern Fiordland on tomorrow and most places for a time on Saturday.
Remainder NELSON, MARLBOROUGH and CANTERBURY
Mainly fine through to Saturday. Mostly cloudy on Sunday, with scattered showers in Marlborough and Canterbury.
Otago and Southland
Mainly fine through to Friday, but rain for coastal Southland from tomorrow evening until Friday morning. Scattered rain developing on Saturday, then becoming fine on Sunday.
Fine spells today and tomorrow, with westerlies strengthening tomorrow evening.Often cloudy from Friday, with winds turning fresh southerly, then dying away.Northwesterlies becoming strong on Saturday. A period of rain on Sunday with a southerly change.
