The MetService long range forecast for all New Zealand to midnight Saturday.
A high pressure persists over New Zealand for the next few days, then retreats to the North Island on Friday as a front moves onto the South Island. The front weakens as it moves over the North Island on Saturday.
Northland, Auckland and Coromandel Peninsula
Mainly fine throughout the period, with isolated showers, mostly inland and during afternoons and evenings.
Waikato, Waitomo, Taumarunui, Bay Of Plenty, Rotorua, Taupo and Taihape
Scattered afternoon and evening showers today and tomorrow, mainly inlandsome will be heavy and possibly thundery. Mainly fine on Friday, then isolated showers developing on Saturday.
Taranaki, Wanganui, Manawatu, Horowhenua Kapiti Coast, Wellington and Wairarapa (including the Tararua District)
Mainly fine through to Friday, with isolated showers about the Tararua Range and developing elsewhere on Saturday.
Gisborne and Hawkes Bay
Scattered afternoon and evening showers through to Thursday, mainly about the the ranges, some will be heavy and possibly thundery today and tomorrow.Mainly fine on Friday, isolated showers developing on Saturday.
Buller, Nelson and Marlborough
Mainly fine throughout the period, with isolated showers about the ranges.Also rain developing in Buller late Friday, easing to a few showers on Saturday.
Mainly fine through to Thursday. Rain developing on Friday, possibly heavy for a time, easing to isolated showers on Saturday.
Fiordland, Southland and clutha
Fine today. Cloudy periods with a few showers tomorrow and on Thursday. Rain developing on Friday, possibly heavy about Fiordland, easing to a few showers later. Showers persist on Saturday, but becoming mainly fine about inland Southland and Clutha.
Canterbury and North Otago
Areas of low cloud or fog today and tomorrow. Mainly fine from Thursday to Saturday, with isolated showers about the high ground.
Mainly fine through to Thursday. A period of rain on Friday, easing to isolated showers later, then becoming fine on Saturday.
Mostly cloudy throughout the period. A few showers on Thursday and Fridaythen rain developing on Saturday and easing to a few showers later.
