The MetService long range forecast for all New Zealand to midnight Friday.
A weak front over the upper North Island gradually drifts southwards
and intensifies as it moves onto the South Island on Tuesday. Another
front moves east over the South Island during Thursday, preceded by
strong northerlies, and over the North Island during Friday.
Northland, Auckland, Coromandel Peninsula
Scattered showers, some heavy and possibly thundery, north of the Harbour Bridge this afternoon. Isolated showers tomorrow, mainly in the east. Cloudy periods with a few showers from Wednesday until Friday.
Bay Of Plenty, Rotorua, Taupo, Waikato, Waitomo, Taumarunui, Taihape, Taranaki, Wanganui, Manawatu, Horowhenua Kapiti Coast, and Wellington
Mainly fine at first. Scattered rain or showers gradually spreading from the northwest today, but not reaching southern areas until tomorrow morning.Showers clearing in Waikato and Bay of Plenty early tomorrow afternoon, and easing elsewhere in the evening. Cloudy periods with a few showers on Wednesday and Thursday. Showers turning to rain for a time on Friday, then clearing in the Kapiti Coast and Wellington later.
Gisborne, Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa including the Tararua District
Occasional rain or showers developing this afternoon then becoming confined to the ranges tomorrow. Cloudy periods on Wednesday and Thursday with a few showers developing about the Wairarapa late Thursday. A brief period of rain spreads north on Friday leaving cloudy periods and a few showers about Wairarapa.
Nelson and Marlborough
Scattered rain developing overnight, easing tomorrow evening about the Sounds
and Nelson. On Wednesday and Thursday, rain at times about Nelson and the Sounds, rain developing late Thursday further east. Early rain clearing on Friday and becoming fine.
Buller, Westland, Fiordland
Fine today. Rain developing tomorrow with some heavy falls and persisting on Wednesday. Rain easing to showers on Thursday. A few showers on Friday.
Southland, Otago and Canterbury
Fine today. Low cloud about the east coast tonight and tomorrow morning. Cloud
thickening later tomorrow with brief rain possible. Mainly fine with isolated afternoon and evening showers in the east on Wednesday. A period of rain moves north on Thursday then easing to a few showers about coastal Southland. Mainly fine with a few showers about coastal Southland on Friday.
Fine with light winds today. Cloudy periods and northeasterlies developing tomorrow. Fine spells with northerlies strengthening on Wednesday. A few showers with strong northerlies on Thursday. On Friday, rain or showers with strong northwesterlies dying out.
