Long Range Weather

The MetService long range forecast for all New Zealand to midnight Wednesday.
The cold southwest flow over New Zealand is abating as a ridge spreads onto the country from the west. The ridge recedes northwards during Mondayfollowed by a disturbed northwest flow, which remains over most of the country for the remainder of the period.
Northland, Auckland and Coromandel Peninsula
Showers receding to the west coast tomorrow morning, and becoming fine everywhere by evening, with southwesterlies dying away. Fine on Monday. Northerlies developing on Tuesday, and cloud increasing, with rain at night. A change to lighter westerlies Wednesday morning, and rain easing to a few showers, becoming fine in Coromandel.
Bay Of Plenty and Rotorua
Fine at first, with morning frosts. Northerlies developing on Tuesday, and cloud increasing, with late drizzle. Rain spreading from the west on Wednesday, then clearing and winds turning westerly.
Waikato, Waitomo, Taupo amd Taumarunui
Mainly fine with morning frosts at first, but a few showers in the west this evening. Northerlies developing on Tuesday, and cloud increasing, with late rain. Rain easing to occasional showers Wednesday morning and winds turning westerly.
Taihape, Taranaki and Wanganui
A few showers spreading from the west this afternoon. Fine spells and a few showers tomorrow, but fine in North Taranaki. Mainly fine on Monday. Rain developing on Tuesday with freshening northerlies. Rain easing to occasional showers early Wednesday and northwesterlies easing.
Manawatu and Horowhenua Kapiti Coast
Cloudy periods and a shower or two today and tomorrow. Long fine spells on Monday. Rain developing on Tuesday and northerlies freshening. Rain easing to a few showers Tuesday night and wind abating. Fine spells and a few showers on Wednesday.
Gisborne and Hawkes Bay
Fine at first. Showers spreading north tomorrow afternoon, mainly near the coast, and southwesterlies freshening. Showers clearing on Monday, and becoming fine with light winds. Northwesterlies developing on Tuesday and high cloud increasing. Brief rain on Wednesday, then skies clearing.
Wairarapa including the Tararua District, and Wellington
Mainly fine today. A few showers about the Wairarapa coast tonight, spreading to most places tomorrow morning, then receding to the east coast in the evening and southwesterlies dying away. Mainly fine on Monday. Strengthening northerlies on Tuesday, with rain developing, easing to a few showers overnight. On Wednesday, fine spells and a shower or two.
Marlborough and Nelson
Mainly fine at first, with morning frosts, but a few showers and fresh southwesterlies about the Kaikoura Coast tomorrow. High cloud increasing on Monday. Rain in Nelson on Tuesday, and scattered rain further east, then clearing later. Fine with high cloud at times on Wednesday.
Buller, Westland, Fiordland and the Southern Alps
Showers in Buller clearing today and becoming fine everywhere. Northerlies developing on Monday, and becoming cloudy, with patchy drizzle turning to rain later. Periods of rain on Tuesday and Wednesday, with some heavy fallsmainly south of the Glaciers.
Canterbury and Otago except the Alps, also Southland
Fine in most places today. However, showers in Southland and Clutha spreading north tonight and tomorrow morning with freshening southwesterlies, but remaining fine in inland Otago and South Canterbury. Becoming fine everywhere later tomorrow. High cloud increasing on Monday and northerlies developing. High cloud with a few spots of rain on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Southwest gales easing tomorrow, and showers clearing late in the day. cloudy periods on monday, and Southerlies turning lighter westerly. cloudy with patchy drizzle and freshening Northwesterlies on tuesday. drizzle turning to rain on wednesday.
