The MetService long range forecast for all New Zealand to midnight Wednesday.
The disturbed southwest flow over the country is dying out as a high drifts eastwards across the Tasman Sea, moving onto New Zealand during Monday. The high moves off to the east on Wednesday, leaving a ridge over most of the country, while northerlies spread onto southern New Zealand.
Long fine spells and isolated showers through Tuesday. Cloudy periods on Wednesday. Southeast breezes predominating.
Auckland, Coromandel Peninsula, Bay Of Plenty, Rotorua and Taupo
Mostly fine throughout the period. Isolated afternoon and evening showers inland tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday, some heavy in Rotorua and Taupo. Winds mainly light.
Waikato, Waitomo, Taumarunui and North Taranaki
Fine spells this afternoon, but cloudy periods increasing this evening. The odd shower about the coast tomorrow morning, then fine through Tuesday apart from isolated afternoon and evening showers inland, some heavy in Waikato tomorrow. Mostly fine on Wednesday. Winds mainly light.
South Taranaki, Taihape, Wanganui, Manawatu and Horowhenua Kapiti Coast
Becoming fine this afternoon, then mostly fine for the remainder of the period.Westerlies dying out today, southeasterlies tomorrow and Monday then mainly light winds.
Gisborne and Hawkes Bay
Cloudy periods developing this evening with a change to southerly winds. Tomorrow and Monday, generally cloudy with isolated showers, mainly north of Napier. Southerlies dying away on Monday. Mostly fine on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Wairarapa including the Tararua District, and Wellington
Cloudy southerlies spreading north this afternoon. Cloudy periods tomorrow. Mainly fine Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Southerlies dying out on Mondaynortherlies developing on Wednesday.
Nelson, Buller and Northern Westland
Mainly fine with light winds throughout the period, but isolated afternoon and evening showers inland today and tomorrow.
Southern Westland and Fiordland
Long fine spells until Wednesday. Northerlies developing on Wednesday and cloudy periods increasing, with patchy drizzle along the west coast later.
Marlborough and Canterbury
Mostly cloudy today and tomorrow, with a few drizzle patches about the coastand isolated afternoon and evening showers inland. Southerlies dying away tomorrow. Areas of morning and evening cloud on Monday and Tuesday, mainly near the coast. Becoming fine on Wednesday.
Otago and Southland
Becoming fine inland today, but remaining rather cloudy near the coast, with a few showers near Foveaux Strait until tomorrow morning. Coastal cloud clearing tomorrow afternoon, then fine apart from areas of coastal night and morning until Tuesday. Generally fine everywhere Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday.
Cloudy periods, with southwesterlies and a few showers from this evening through Monday. Longer fine spells on Tuesday and southwesterlies dying out. Mainly fine with light winds on Wednesday.
