The MetService long range forecast for all New Zealand to midnight Wednesday.
The disturbed northerly flow over New Zealand turns southwest tomorrow as a complex trough moves east across the country. The southwesterlies ease during Monday as a high advances across the Tasman Sea. The high extends a ridge onto the South Island on Tuesday. The ridge moves onto northern New Zealand on Wednesday, followed by northwesterlies over the South Island.
Northland, Auckland, Coromandel Peninsula, Waikato, Waitomo, Bay Of PlentyRotorua, Taupo, Taumarunui, Taihape and Taranaki
Unsettled today and tomorrow, with showers widespread in the afternoon and evening, some heavy and thundery. Northwesterlies turning southwest tomorrow night. Showers clearing from most places Monday morning, but still a few showers in the west and far north. Becoming fine everywhere on Tuesday, and southwesterlies dying out. Mainly fine on Wednesday.
Wanganui, Manawatu, Horowhenua Kapiti Coast and Wellington
Occasional showers today and tomorrow, some heavy in the afternoon and evening.Showers clearing tomorrow night. Mainly fine on Monday with northwesterlies dying out, but southerlies and showers developing in Wellington in the evening.On Tuesday, occasional showers in Wellington and the odd shower further northsoutherlies dying away. Mainly fine on Wednesday.
Gisborne, Hawkes Bay, and Wairarapa including the Tararua District
Cloudy periods today and tomorrow, with scattered afternoon and evening showers, some heavy and possibly thundery inland. Becoming fine Monday morning and northwesterlies dying away. Showers spreading from the south on Tuesday with occasional showers, mainly near the coast. Becoming fine on Wednesday and southerlies dying out.
Marlborough, except the Kaikoura Coast, and Nelson
Occasional showers, some possibly heavy, clearing tomorrow afternoon. Mainly fine Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, but cloudy periods in Marlborough on Tuesday and early Wednesday, with drizzle patches night and morning.
Buller, Westland and Fiordland
Unsettled with rain or showers until Monday, and some heavy falls. Fine spells increasing on Monday. Mainly fine on Tuesday and Wednesday, but becoming cloudy south of the Glaciers on Wednesday, and rain developing in Fiordland.
The Kaikoura Coast and Canterbury
Fine with high cloud today and tomorrow. Northeasterlies dying out tomorrow. Southwesterlies spreading north on Wednesday with a few showers. Cloudy periods on Tuesday and Wednesday, with drizzle patches night and morning. Northeasterlies again on Wednesday.
Otago and Southland
High cloud increasing, and scattered rain spreading from the south tomorrow.Northeasterlies turning strong westerly tomorrow afternoon or evening. Rain easing to occasional showers tomorrow night, and clearing inland on Monday with southwest winds dying away. Becoming fine everywhere on Tuesday. Northerlies developing on Wednesday, and high cloud increasing, with scattered late rain in Southland.
Rain clearing tonight and easterlies tending lighter northerly. Fine spells tomorrow, but cloud increasing in the evening, and rain at times on Monday. Northerlies turning southwest on Monday. Occasional showers on Tuesday and Wednesday. Cool southerlies dying away on Wednesday.
