Coca-Cola and Pepsi are changing their formulas to avoid having to put a cancer warning on products in the United States.

The state of California has added one ingredient in their drinks to a list of chemicals that may cause cancer.

Californian law would have required the companies to put a warning on their bottles, the BBC reports.

Instead, Coca-Cola and Pepsi have reduced the amount of the chemical in their fizzy drinks in the United States.
