State media are reporting that North Korea will mark the 100th birthday of its late President Kim Il-sung by launching a satellite mounted on a rocket.
A spokesperson for the Korean Committee for Space Technology says in a statement that the launch will take place between April 12 and 16.
The move is seen as violating United Nations Security Council resolutions passed after a similar launch in April 2009.
Last month Pyongyang agreed to suspend long-range missile tests in return for food aid from the United States.
