Mountain of office supplies found

9:06 am on 3 April 2012

Police are sorting through more than 20 tonnes of office supplies taken home from work over decades by a council employee in Stuttgart, Germany.

A retired caretaker has admitted taking items ranging from pencil sharpeners to ladders and storing them in his apartment, basement, attic and garden shed.

The police say the man had access to many city offices, but did not try to sell the goods and could not explain why he had taken them.
